This blog is all about current happenings in science. In the years before the Web, I assigned students a current events project where they would read a scientific article in a journal, magazine, or newspaper and hand in a written summary and reflection on the article. I, as the teacher, benefited greatly from reading all of the class’ findings. They, unfortunately, only benefited from their own.
The goal of this blog is to give students the opportunity to read, write, and reflect on the rapidly changing world of science. Reading and commenting on the posts of others broadens their view of the world of science. Students are expected to submit posts that are grammatically correct. Like any school assignment there are errors and the students are graded down for them. I hope the public nature of this project motivates them to improve their writing skills.
