Many Plants Threatened with Extinction

September 29th, 2010 by riesenrr · No Comments · Biology

New research by the Royal Botanic Gardens show that over twenty percent of all plants are threatened with extinction.  The main cause of  this is human induced habitat loss.  Scientists are trying to think of new ways to slow down the extinction and hopefully reverse it.  This loss of plants would cause the loss of food for animals and oxygen.  Also, there would be a lack of medicine for humans.

I think this discovery is frightening.  We need plants to keep the air clean and make medicine.  Also, the plants provide food and shelter for many animals. The plant’s extinction could cause the extinction of many animals. We need to protect our plants!
