The Physics of Curling

Every four years a group of peculiar people meet together for one common reason: curling! The goal of this amazing sport is to get the stones as close to the center of the ring as possible. The real physics problem about this is the friction between the ice and the rocks. Read more here.

Above are some of the complicated equations for the sport of curling. This sport looks simple and not hard at first glance. If you get down to it, it is a very difficult sport and everything needs to be thought out and calculated to give you that extra advantage. If you think it’s so  easy, try to be an olympic curler. I dare you.
