This article talks about a small animals that are known for destroying piers and other kinds of wood that are found near the ocean. Scientists have discovered that the animals digest the indigestible. They have an enzyme in their stomach that is aimed toward destroying wood and turning it into bio-fuel or a natural fuel source. Scientists hope that they can use this technique instead of using fossil fuels. To read more click here.
This will help or world greatly because if we can harness the power of bio-fuel instead of fossil fuel we can preserve our world a while longer. It can increase our economy also. This shows how something so small can lead to an idea that can change our lifestyle.
Q3-3
This is a good post and a good article to choose mccurdkd, because everyone knows now days, how expensive any fuel is getting. Fuel is getting more and more expensive. The US specifically is having trouble. It would help a lot to our generation if we found more efficient and less costly fuel for the future, with the economy that is just getting worse. This is a good example with how science can improve our everyday life and our way of living. Our country is hungry for more efficient fuel, and who knows, this could be a solution to it. Another interesting thing is that the gribbles come from the ocean. I would have never guessed that these microscopic things would be in the ocean destroying the piers on our beaches. Good post.
One thing I would like to add, which was in the article when I read it was that these gribbles have genes which let them do this, as said in the article. As you know we just got done with learning about genes, and this may tie together greatly with our topic we were learning about. Like you said, the genes that are in the intestines of the gribble may be able to let us find out how to convert wood like material to biofuels.
What a great post! Also a great comment! mccurdkd You are completely right on how the use of these small animals will help our world and our living. With the way the economy is going today and the price of the fuel these days it will only get more difficult for families to survive.
I would also like to include another reason to how these small creatures can help our people tremendously. With these animals creating this fuel, there will need to be people to do that job. Thus, there will be many new jobs increasing the economy’s shape and lessening the use of fossil fuels.
