Have you ever wondered if your excess weight could cushion the impact of something with a great amount of force? According to a new analysis of about 300,00 accidents, in some ways this could save your life. The answer all depends on the gender and the seat belt habits of the driver. Severely obese men that wore seat belts had a 22% higher chance of living than one of the average size with a seat belt, allowing extra fat to cushion ones vital organs. Even though this may happen, if he wouldn’t have worn one, he would have been more likely to die.
For women it’s no different what their weight is. Although many things are made to help us in the every day life, they may need to be improved for all shapes and sizes. Read more here.

Well, I certainly would have not expected this! It is almost ironic that severely obese men, who have a larger chance of dying anyways, could actually have a higher percentage of living when wearing a seat belt during a car crash. However, the article also stated that they would have a 10% higher chance of mortality if the severely obese man was not wearing a seat belt than if an average person was not wearing one.
But this is not the case with women. The weight plays no real role in the chances of death-by-car-crash. Researchers think this may be because even obese women tend to be lighter than obese men.
Just because you may have a higher chance of surviving a car crash if you are obese and wear a seat belt, this should not be an excuse for anyone to not choose a healthy lifestyle. You should always glorify God with the body he has blessed you with.
