Scientists bring us closer to making the dream of invisibility true

January 11th, 2010 by foleyjt · No Comments · Physics

The researchers from the physics department  have made a cool thing out of metamaterial that can make objects invisible under certain kinds of light. They do this by making the inside of the magnetic field zero, but not changing the exterior field. It causes the device to act like an invisibility cloak in these types of waves. So far, this has only been studied in theoretical works. To read the full article click here.

What a breakthrough. If they can further progress this into the rainbow-color spectrum that we see, it will have even better results. This can then be applied into medical fields and can help prevent the magnetic detection of ships. That’s cool.
