Studies have shown that people who are musicians have better hearing than non musicians. When put through tests musicians perform better. For example musicians can recognize constants and syllables better and faster than non musicians. The reason musicians hear better is that the process musicians have to go through when they play or work with instruments strengthens their nervous systems which helps them interpret speech quicker and clearer. Overall musicians have a much better speech perception. For more information on this click here.
Scientists should put more study into this because this new found knowledge may benefit many people. Children who have hearing disabilities may benefit from knowing this. Also older people may benefit from this knowledge.
Q2-2
What a grand subject kronebca! I really like this subject because I am a very talented musician myself. It is very cool to see that we musicians are able to hear better because we do something we love. I mean, what could be greater? I also see that in your post you mention the hearing of those who have hearing problems. This is fantastic news that we should all be excited about.
After reading this post I think scientists and researchers can do a lot with this discovery.
Maybe in the future we can use this to find a way to make deaf and old people hear, and I think that’s cool.
Great job kronebca, that was awesome! Its amazing how work with instruments can strengthen your hearing. One might have guessed that musicians have better hearing but now there are studies to back it up. Mr Rosenbaum has very good speech perception and i think his music talent has contributed to that greatly. i think kids with hearing problems such as those from CSDR may want to try this method of using instruments to help them hear more. Q-2P-1
I could understand why musicians are better with sounds, because that is all music is about, is sounds. It is said that reason musicians hear better is because musicians have to go through a process when they play or work with instruments which strengthens their nervous systems which helps them hear and interpret speech quicker and clearer.
Maybe like it was said by the author of this post, it can be used to help improve hearing of people with hearing disabilities. That would be an interesting but maybe difficult experiment.
