Quantum computers more accurate?

January 10th, 2010 by matteuje · No Comments · Physics

A group of scientists from Harvard and University of the Queen (In Australia) have used quantum technology for something new: Calculating the precise energy of a molecule. They used a quantum computer to get their result. A quantum computer uses qubits rather than regular binary. The qubits are able to be both a one and a zero at the same time, allowing for it to be an infinite amount of combinations. The quantum technology used allows for the job to be done with fewer resources while being more precise then a regular computer. You can read more about it here.

Quantum computing is being hailed as the future of computer technology. Qubits are better than bits in many situations, while actually doing less. Once this technology becomes more widely used, I believe it will make jobs dealing with complex issues easier to solve and work with. It’s abilities will open up many new doors in many different fields of science, and help solve many of the tougher problems scientists deal with.
