Researchers have had a breakthrough discovery at MIT and Boston University. They have found that they can use the drug hydroxyurea to force bacteria to produce molecules that are toxic to themselves. This sparks ideas of making new medicines that will have similar results. Hydroxyurea is in the enzyme that helps make DNA. Sometimes it is used in chemotherapy. Researchers have discovered though that the cells do not die with the application of the drug. However is creates radicals that harm cellular molecules. One researcher found three different antibiotics that also produce hydroxyl radicals. In the future some researchers hope to look further into the drug Hydroxyurea.

I think that this is important because it is used in chemotherapy. Many people around the world suffer and die from cancer everyday. This new discovery will help improve cancer treatments. Also, it may eventually lead to a cure. This will save many people of all ages everywhere.
