A camera put in Sumatra has captured some photos of a rare female tiger and her cubs. While the camera was filming them they stopped to sniff it and try to figure out what it was. There are only about 400 Sumatran tigers left, no thanks to hunters. “We are very concerned though, because the territory of this tigress and its cubs is being rapidly cleared by two global paper companies, palm oil plantations, encroachers, and illegal loggers. Will the cubs survive to adulthood in this environment?” said Karmila Parakkasi, the leader of WWF-Indonesia’s Sumatran tiger research team. But with this information on what they have from the trap cam, researchers are trying to find ways to save these innocent animals. For more information on this article click HERE.
This camera is very useful in helping these poor tigers stay alive. Without them knowing where the tiger is or in what general area they know to tell the two major companies not to take down trees there for as long as possible. It is good to know that there are still some tigers left, that even though we are destroying their home they still find a way to live.
