This ‘cosmic opera’ that will be taking place in Paris will inform the public about cosmic particles and pay a tribute to an experiment like this one that was previously performed on top of the Eiffel Tower by Theodor Wulf in 1910. Every time a muon flashes across and hits the Montparnasse Tower in Paris(689 feet tall) a light will flash across the sky. Muons are debris from protons that are blasted out from the Sun or beyond our Solar System and constantly bombard the Earth. To read the full article about this, click here.
This was a very short, yet interesting article. I think it’d be cool to show people through a Paris light show how many things involving science are going on around us and we don’t even realize it. We wouldn’t normally notice a muon crashing to earth because we can’t see them! They hit earth at the speed of light. So i think this will remind people how science continues to go on all around us without us even noticing.
This was a very interesting article. It’s amazing how such an amazing thing is going around us and we don’t even realize it. These protons separate when they hit molecules in the upper atmosphere, and their remains shoot down to earth at the speed of light, which is why it is impossible to see. However, the Montparnasse Tower indicates when a muon flies across the sky.
I think that this an amazing thing that has been discovered. It just goes to show how little we know about what is going on around us.
