Human Influences on Climate Change

September 7th, 2009 by rosenblm · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

This article shows evidence that humans are affecting climate change. According to a proven cooling trend, summer temperatures were cooling in the Arctic at .2 degrees Celsius per year. However, by the middle of the 20th Century, the summer temperature in the Arctic was .7 degrees Celsius above what the trend predicted. This incongruity suggested that human influences were occurring. During the last decade, temperatures have become 1.4 degrees higher than was expected. Human influence is increasing.

This article proved that humans are being careless in the way they get rid of waste or use fuels. This article helps to prove that we need to be more careful in the way we affect the planet. Even though noticeable changes won’t happen in hundreds of years, we still need to be more careful. The effects of the carbon footprints we leave behind will damage the world for generations to come. Imroving this could also be beneficial immediately, helping air pollution and keeping money where it belongs-in our pockets.http://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=115010&org=NSF&from=news

Everyone knows about global warming problem. And the article just talked about this problem. He talked about the temperature changed, he made a compare between middle 20th centry with nowadays. And he said the temperatures rised more than what human thinked. And he also talked about how did that happened. Its beacause of human’s careless and waste.
So he talked about what and how should people do after go on to not makes the problem bigger and bigger.

But I think there are something more that we can talk about. Like he said what happened, but he didn’t say much about what different things will happen to humans. As the temperature goes up everyday, if might helps the people living in the cold area to feel better and more comfortable. But what also might happen is, it will effect the food and the weather. The food will spoil much faster than before. So like usually a opened water or drink can stay fresh for 2 days, but now it will only work for 1 day or even less.
And not only food and weather will makes lots of beings uncomfortable, but also it will makes the sea level rise. Do you know whats that mean? It means that maybe after few hundreds year, there is no more japan or hawaii in this world. And also there is no more North Pole and South Pole in this world. It will also effects the health of human beings. Like if its too hot, you will get heatstorke. And there are more problems. But the main point is if we don’t change, then the earth will change, which is not good.

Global warming is a huge topic in today’s society. Many people say that nothing is happening and we do not need to worry about it. I do not know how people can say that. In this article you can clearly see that global warming is doing something and we are causing it. People need to be more careful. Just like rosenblm said, we might not see huge changes in the next hundred years, but the problem will get worse as we grow up and as our kids grow up and the only way to change that is to act now.

I really like this article. I like how rosenblm gave statistics to prove his point. Even though I liked his opinions, I think that those are only a few big problems. He could have at least listed a couple small ones. He also could have talked about some changes we can make to help this problem.

Since we live in America, another thing to talk about is climate change in the US. How much has the climate changed in the last couple decades? Where is the biggest change and why? What specific things can we do in different parts of the country?

Overall I think that this article is great and shows us that change is happening and that we need to do something about it before the problem gets too big.
