“Cling To Walls Like Spiderman”

June 13th, 2009 by johnsodk · No Comments · Physics

Physicists believe that they have come up with the formula to the ” spider- man suit”.  Professor Nicola Pugno has described the suit to contain a mixture of adhesive forces and other substitutes to make a spider-man like suit. This suit would be equipped with many tiny molecular sized hooks which would be great to climb up a wall and then easily detach themselves from that surface. This suit would contain the molecular sized hooks which is very similar to the Van der Waals forces that Gecko lizards use to climb and walk on top of ceilings. The feet of Gecko lizards and spiders are weather resistant to their surroundings, so this poses difficulty for the suit to adapt to those conditions.

In conclusion the spider-man suit would be a great contribution to physics and easy work. For example with this suit you would be able to clean windows easier and simply grasp things that would not normally be able to reach. There are some questions posed that may be a problem. Both spiders and humans have different muscle structures that may cause conflict and also the suit will probably will need adjustment for weather.
