Scientists Control Plasma Bullets

March 1st, 2009 by schoberj · No Comments · Physics

Using an extremely high speed camera, scientists were able to observe a plasma bullet with elaborate precision. This allowed them to find a way to discover how to control it. The plasma bullet is able to travel at 100,000 meters per second. This research also shed light on how the bullet is formed as the gases are ignited, which revealed more of a donut shape. Now that researchers are able to control these plasma bullets they are now able to conduct further research and look for usable applications.

The possibilities of the results from this research are endless. Despite the title of bullet this new technology will actually be appliedĀ for biomedical and healing purposes, especially dentistry. Because of this new technology tooth decay might become a thing of the past. Just imagine those cavities gone!
