Plastic is light and inexpensive, it also holds an electric current. Since Metal is heavy and expensive it has been impossible to combine both plastic and metal. The IFAM in Bremen has come up with a solution to combine this two components without needing any new machinary.The researchers faced many challenges including getting plastic to conduct electricity. The two components are mixed together with a special process to make one single component, through this process it creates a homogeneous and fine meshed electrically powered network. This will enable no longer needing to integrate metal circuit boards and in will only be a single step process that will reduce the production costs and the time it will take. Manufactures such as Automobile and aircraft will benefit the most from this.
