Scientists predict that emperor penguins could be extinct by the end of the century. Research shows that climate change and climate fluctuations are causing the loss of sea ice. They used mathematical models to predict this. They predict that a colony will decrease from 3,000 to 400 by the end of the century, which shows what could happen to the entire species of emperor penguins. Scientists say that the population could decrease by as much as 80%, which would put the entire species at a serious risk of extinction. Sea ice is very critical in the life of a peguin. It provides for almost everything that the emperor penguin needs. Without this sea ice, they have little chance of survival.
Personally, i don’t understand how anyone can predict what will happen in ten years by a mathematical problem. However, it is very possible that it could happen because of climate change, or some may say “global warming” that may or may not be happening. So until the time comes when scientists see the next century to which they made their predictions, no can be certain of what the fate of the emperor penguins will be.
