Professor Abraham Katzir of the Tel Aviv University recently announced that he and his team have come up with a laser that can heal cuts on our skin and outside our bodies. Before, it was impossible to control the temperature of the laser and the result was scorched tissue or tissue that wasn’t bonded together. After first finding the perfect temperature for bringing the skin back together without a scar, he worked on getting the laser to be able to stay at that temperature and to adjust if it was too hot. His team tested the laser on some people after their gull bladders were removed. They used their laser to heal half of the tissue and conventional methods for the other half. The tissue healed faster and with less scaring. Professor Katzir will probably bring it to the FDA soon to get it approved for more testing in the United States. He predicts that not only will plastic surgeons love it, but it can also be used for quickly healing soldiers on the battle field. Read the full article here.
If this laser truly is as amazing as Professor Katzir says, it will reduce the amount of infections, because it is watertight, that people get after surgery and will help save lives. Assuming that all goes as planned, it should be commercially made in just a few years. Also, stitching small and delicate wounds take time and training. This is faster and does not take as much experience to master.
This laser would be great for not only uses in hospitals and doctors offices, but also at home. The fact that it leaves less of a scar could help people who need stitches in places where the scar could make the patients uncomfortable. With a less noticeable mark, people would not be so embarassed to talk about it or go out in public with it. It is also very safe and may keep down infections and viruses from contaminated needles.
When this laser under goes more testing, and becomes more common, people can have it in their houses. When children have little scratches their parents will be able to take out their lasers and heal the cut instantly and painlessly. This laser will change our lives and our visits to the doctor.
Not only would this laser be great in the homes, but if people do have an injury that needs professional assistance, it will not take as long for them to see the doctors. The doctors in hospitals can now make their way through patients with cuts in a flash, and without having to worry too much about infection.
In today’s world many people gain the infections in their cuts or wounds simply because they are sitting in the waiting room for hours on end waiting for a doctor to become available. With this new technology, less people will end up with infections because they will not have to be sitting in the waiting room for hours on end because the specialist they are waiting to see will be able to heal the wounds of others quicker and more efficiently.
The laser seems like a very helpful invention and being able to use it for surgery would do wonders for our world. Instead of having those nasty scars from surgeries, it wouldn’t leave such a horrible mark. Also our wounds would be able to heal faster. If we can be able to use it on our soldiers in war then I think we would be able to do great in battle.
Hopefully using the laser for medical use will work out. There will be less infection and the cuts and wounds will heal out in a healthier way. Technology seems to keep getting better and better!
So many people today rely on plastic surgery and diffrent medicines to help heal their scars. This new laser, i think will change how doctors do so many things. It’s amazing that it can heal cuts and deep wounds, with this new technology it will definetly save people time and money but most importantly it will protect them from dangerous infections.
Knowing that this laser will mend wounds, I think that stiches will be a thing in the past, which is a very good thing because that procedure can take hours. I find this really amazing how it can help people on the battle field, and get them back on the field quicker and with better results than just stitches.
Advances in technology are great but new discoveries and advances in medicine are an awsome thing. Years ago it would take a lot of time to heal a wound or something but people are finding more a more ways to come up with an easier, faster, and less painful way of performing operations. A laser is a very good way to help people have less pain and a less visible wound or mark.
With all these new discoveries and with more years passing by I wonder if there will be a time where doctors will be able to perform an operation without leaving any trace behind or without even having to open up the person. Laser is a good way to start the path towards there. Getting laser surgery could perhaps be more expensive now but as time passes it will be normal to have laser surgery. It’s good that they found a way to control the temperature of the laser that way it woun’t burn the tissues. This is a great thing for the medical field.
