American Bison

November 30th, 2008 by schwarda · 2 Comments · Biology

The Americna Bison is a symbol of the American West. That’s what a survey said about this great beast. People are trying to reintroduce the bison back into the wild as Americas’ most important animal. They once were counted in the millions but were almost wiped out due to expansion westward. Experts hope to restore the population in about one hundred years.

I think that this a very important article. The bison was the heart and soul of the Native American people. They used the bison for everythingunder the sun. The bison supported the U.S. for the whole old west days. It would be a great accomplishment if we could reintroduce the bison into the wild.

That would be great if they could reintroduce the bison, they were such help for the Native Americans way back then, i couldn’t imagine how much they would now a days. It is quite mind blowing that such a large population of animals was demolished so quickly. Even though it will probably take up to 100 years to fully repopulate them it will be a great task and many people will be able to take advantage of them. We just need to realize that they can become almost extinct once again if we use them foolishly.

Yeah this is a great article but i really don’t think the government is going support this. It would take time, money, and manpower to get this done. Money to make some sort of wildlife reserve and manpower to check the land and clear in for reintroduction. I would support this if the government used this as a way to create jobs for many Americans. And if it is successfully reintroduced, who’s to say there won’t be bison hunters and people who want the firs and other assets of the bison! I just dont think it would be the greatest idea. Sorry David…
