FDA Issues Guidelines for Genetically Engineered Animals

September 21st, 2008 by christbr · No Comments · Biology

This article is about the FDA issuing guidelines for animals who are genetically engineered. Though the practice is looked down upon, it is used for getting milk and more meat from cows and other animals of its kind. However, the FDA is more concerned about animals used for drug testing and drugs that may come from these animals. Some consumers and scientists say they are happy that the FDA is finally taking a stand against this but they also say that the guidelines don’t go far enough. For like click here.

Some scientists have developed plants that are more resistant to pests, cows that are imune to “mad cow” disease, and super-growing salman that reach sale-size much quicker than they’re natural brothers howerver, they are not yet allowed to be put on the market. I am all for starting to stop world hunger, which this couldĀ do, but not if they animals we’reĀ feeding them are poisoned or contaminated.
