The African forests may be facing a grow epidemic. The vegetation and especiallythe animals are being eaten out of their homes. African people are killing the animals so fast that they can’t reproduce fast enough to replenish their numbers. The Africans get 80% of their protein and fat in their diet from the meat that they kill. The equivalent of the meat that they eat is about four million cattle. Experts say that if a solution isn’t found that certain species will be extinct in 50 years. To read more, click here.

I think this is a very important story because the animals, especially the unique ones, will disappear from the face of this earth and our children won’t learn and experience what kind of animals they are. The only thing that they will have is stories, just like the dinosaurs. We have made this mistake before with the Amazon and we shouldn’t let it happen again. We should make a law that will protect the animals and the rain forests of Africa so we don’t lose these fine specimens like the duikers.
