Did you know that physics has found its way into animation? Although traditional hand-drawn animation does not portray physics properly, the growing field of computer animation uses sophisticated physics calculations to make them more realistic.
Complicated motion data and calculations must be used to simulate physics correctly, or the results will not look right at all. Not only do the movements of people and animals need to be recreated, but also their fur/hair and clothing present a challenge for animators. In order for skin, fluids, and other surfaces to look realistic, physics in lighting and translucency have needed to be researched. In fact, when 3D elements are placed in real live scenes in a movie, a series of algorithms is used to calculate the proper illumination to make them render just right in whatever scene is necessary.
By applying physics in a number of ways to animation, it has improved greatly in the last decade. To find out more about this topic, click here: http://www.aip.org/isns/reports/2007/018.html

This isn’s a surprise to the general public. Since the days of Pixar and other types of computer animation people are proportional, they move normal, and have natural body colors. These films are some of the largest box office grossers of all time. Although this relates to physics, we already know this exist. We grew up Toy Story.
I think that in some movies they don’t get the faces right but WETA Digital in New Zealand has done alot of good work with that. When i went on a tour of chapman university they showed us the motion capture sensors that they used on Gollum.
Anyway WETA did a couple of movies with one of my heros, Peter Jackson; Lord of the Rings and King Kong. They also had to work out algorithms to get all “random movement” of thousands of people of lord of the rings. They paved the way for many more movies with thier technology including 300 and other recent movies with lots of big fight scenes.
WETA’s website is pretty boring but here are some other pages to check out
